Ethanol as Aviation Fuel

Dr. Monty Suffern, formerly of Australia and now of Baylor University in Waco, Texas, is leading a project to make aviation fuel from ethanol. Aviation fuel is the only liquid fuel today still using lead. For the past eight years, the aviation industry has received a dispensation to continue using leaded aviation fuel because there was no alternative. Airplanes have to have a 100 Octane liquid fuel. Obviously they cannot use other options available for automobiles such as solar, electric, or hydrogen power.
